Alo is opening its first physical location in mainland China with a three-storey pop-up at Shanghai’s Zhangyuan on October 1, expanding the Los Angeles-based fashion and lifestyle brand’s presence across China and North Asia.

The Zhangyuan location brings Alo’s California heritage together with the city’s cultural landscape, with the space designed around the brand’s core pillars of movement, mindfulness, recovery and connection. It combines retail with wellness, movement and community programming across indoor spaces and exterior courtyards.
“Opening in Shanghai is an incredibly meaningful moment for Alo. We wanted Zhangyuan to be a full expression of the brand and our belief that luxury is about how you live and how you feel,” said Summer Nacewicz, Alo’s EVP of marketing & creative.
“It’s more than a place to shop—it’s a place to move, reset and connect, and to experience the full Alo world. Bringing our California roots together with the creative energy of Shanghai has created something that feels distinctly Alo, while also having a real sense of place.”
The ground floor offers a selection of women’s and men’s apparel, footwear and accessories. An interior courtyard offers space for meditation and sound healing, while an exterior courtyard features a poolside gathering area, a vintage Ford Bronco and a postcard station. The site also includes Alo Café, serving smoothies, coffee, fresh juices and light bites.
The second-floor Wellness Suite will open October 6 and offer invitation-only services including personal training, massage therapy, sound healing and meditation, while a third-floor space dedicated to reformer Pilates and yoga will open in mid-October, offering public classes and community programming.
The opening follows Alo’s launch of its official Tmall flagship store and WeChat e-commerce Mini Program in August, as well as the brand’s recent announcement of plans to open eight Sanctuaries across seven cities in the region.
Notably, the brand’s first wave of planned opening locations includes Zhangyuan and HKRI Taikoo Hui in Shanghai.
