Eponymous designer Amit Aggarwal has opened a 6,000 square-foot, two storey flagship in Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda neighbourhood to bring his entire brand universe under one roof.

“Kala Ghoda felt like a natural next step for us,” said Amit Aggarwal in a release on Thursday. “It is a neighbourhood where fashion, art, design, and culture have always existed in close conversation, and that felt aligned with the world we are building at Amit Aggarwal. This flagship gives us the scale to bring the different expressions of the house together, while also allowing us to grow into a space that feels relevant to where the brand is today and where it is going next.”
The store has segments for Amit Aggarwal’s women’s couture, men’s couture, women’s occasion wear, and accessories, along with ready to wear line ‘AM.IT’. The launch marks the next phase of growth for the label as it eyes a larger platform and wider cultural ambitions.
“Design, for me, is a process of discovery,” said Thotpot Designs architect Niket Deshpande, who conceptualised the space. “My job was to deep dive in Amit’s unspoken, his gestures and his personality to appropriate an inspiring space for his creations. The architecture, just like Amit’s collection, is designed to move you.”

At the centre of the store shoppers will encounter a 13-foot suspended pod, designed as its architectural and conceptual anchor and as a vessel to explore ideas of origin, containment, and transformation. As the store is housed within a heritage building, its structural elements and irregular geometry have been incorporated into its interior design.
“The space reimagines traditional retail architecture by transforming an unconventional, windowless heritage building into a monochromatic sanctuary,” said Studio Guniya’s art and design consultant Surajit Ranjan Das. “By fusing heritage architecture with spatial installations, the Kala Ghoda flagship offers a distinct, unexpected retail experience that aligns seamlessly with Amit Aggarwal’s parametric design language.”
