Shirts with instantly recognisable bows. Dresses with ruffles. Vintage- and Asian-inspired jackets that have defined one of the most influential trends of recent years. These are some of the hallmarks of Laganini, a Spanish brand with three years of history which, this October, is taking a key step in its commercial development by entering two of Europe’s leading department stores: Le Bon Marché in Paris and Liberty in London.

The Zaragoza-based label is thus embarking on its international roll-out, choosing two locations that sit squarely in the same territory as the brand itself: affordable luxury. “Since our inception, we have been a brand with an international focus; 65% of our sales are outside Spain, so this expansion through Le Bon Marché and Liberty is very significant for us. They are key points of sale not only in the international luxury segment, but across the fashion industry as a whole,” Ángela Jordá, founder of Laganini, tells FashionNetwork.com. “Reaching the shop windows of Paris and London after just three years shows that the international market values authenticity, finishing and the enduring quality of garments,” she adds.

With its debut in these two department stores, the brand stakes out a presence in both Paris and London and consolidates its international growth strategy, which will be driven by the wholesale channel. France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy and Germany are, after Spain, Laganini’s main markets. The brand was born online and is gradually gaining ground offline: in spring 2025, it opened the doors of its showroom-store in Zaragoza and, in parallel with its international expansion, is looking for premises in Madrid.

“We want to be on the Golden Mile, but we need to find the right space. Yes, we have a strong international focus and our product appeals to a global audience, but we cannot forget our Spanish clientele – especially in Madrid – who have been very loyal to us since the beginning,” explains Jordá, who is also the brand’s creative director.

Laganini’s roadmap is therefore built on a dual expansion strategy: international and domestic wholesale (it is exploring partnerships with leading Spanish retailers) and the gradual creation of its own boutique network, with Madrid as the first target and Paris as the second. The brand already tested the waters in the French capital last year, earning a strong response from local customers.

Aiming for €3 million by 2028

With its national and international development plan, Laganini is targeting a turnover of 3 million euros by the end of 2028 and currently boasts year-on-year growth of 70%, financed entirely with its own resources. “Our annual growth is sustained by a crucial balance: expanding our footprint abroad without losing the direct connection and care we devote to our community in the domestic market,” says Jordá.

Positioning itself as “one of the labels energising Spanish premium design,” Laganini builds its product proposition on domestic production, limited runs and reinterpretations of classic silhouettes in distinctive colours and fabrics. “Last year, the WGSN trend platform spotlighted one of our garments – our Shanghai jacket, inspired by the 1950s and featuring frog fastenings – as an emerging trend. Since then, Asian-inspired pieces have been very popular,” recalls Jordá, underlining the brand’s “trendsetting” spirit. To diversify its offering, the label is also considering expansion into new categories such as homewares and childrenswear.
